Dog Gone Awesome

I really love these MFTS stamps and dies, they just have the cutest stamps. I think pretty much every die cut and stamp on here is from MFTS.

Tried to add some interest by using 2 different greens for the grass, popping some of it up and then finally adding tufts here and there.

This was a very stubborn card that would not smooth out after I water colored the background. Honestly I put this under something heavy then went out of town for almost a week, lets just say it's definitely flat now. I still have the pop effect from the foam tape but so glad that the warp was finally fixed.

Whole Lot of Pink

This card gave me free reign to make the entire card about as pink as a card can get. I am pretty sure this will be a card for my bff even though her birthday is won't be till next year. She loves pink and kitties so this will be one she'll love for sure.

This was one of those cards that had to get flatten out even after I made the card.

Simply the Best

Here is another Father's Day card I made and actually decided to give it to my husband. I did a lot of water color backgrounds and then used those to make a bunch of cards. It does take some guess work out of deciding a background and are easy enough to do but the problem with watercolor panels is they tend to warp and I usually just set them under something heavy to flatten them out, but occasionally they give me trouble and won't flatten entirely, then I bring out the double stick tape and tape the entire panel down. That usually does the trick but sometimes that doesn't even work so then the whole card will go under something heavy and that usually works the kinks out. Fortunately this one cooperated and I opted to die cut it which really gave it a nice border of pp.

Ham It Up

After completing the shirts for the boys I realized Father's Day was a whole lot closer than I realized. A bit of panicked set in because I really haven't given too much thought about it and knew I really needed some cards, especially something for my Father In Law.

I grabbed a bunch of stamps and plan to make several cards but the first one that struck me was the cute little piggies from MFTS, but the more I planned out this card I realized maybe its a little too cute for a Father's Day Card. I decided to only stamped the Ham It Up sentiment because I figured in a pinch it would be better than nothing and worse case I can use this card for almost any occasion so I felt good about finishing it.

Jeep Shirts

Since I had broken out the sewing machine to make some zippered bags I figured it was high time I made the boys some new shirts. They are growing like crazy and have outgrown the last shirts I made. Plus if I wasn't careful they would grow too large and go up in a pattern size and its quite possible I wouldn't have enough fabric.

So it took a week of cutting, ironing, stitching, ripping out restitching and finally they were done.

I love this pattern it's so cute for boys.

I found a nice pattern to use in both shirts for the contrast collar and inside yoke.

And the pocket matches almost perfectly.

Sending Thanks times three

I seem to be into mass production lately, first it was the totes for the teachers, then it was the zipper bags for the aides and now it's Thank You cards for my friends.

We got together the other day for lunch to celebrate my birthday which is so sweet they still think of me even though I am not working with them any more (sigh miss the friends don't miss the work) so I wanted to send them a Thank You card.

For whatever reason I opted to watercolor and die cut some Amazing You flowers from Altenew and from there I liked the frame dies from Papertrey Ink so I mix and matched them a bit. Then I just needed to find some pp for it all to work with and viola a triple Thank You set.

Teacher Aides Gifts

So finally figured out what to make my daughter's teacher aides as gifts, these little zipper bags and I already had the perfect fabric, Dr. Seuss.

I only needed to pick up some zippers and something for the inside. I found this adorable red and white polka dot fabric and thought it would be perfect and little did I know till after I started sewing with it I realized it has some sort of water resistance to it, perfect!

Because I needed to make nine bags in all I just did a little assembly line which really works well until you make a mistake, then you make the same mistake nine times. Well frankly I actually made ten bags because you never know when another one will come in handy so that was ten mistakes and right off the bat too.

The first thing I did was sew the bags inside out thus by outside fabric was on the inside and vice versa. So my ten zippers all had to be ripped out..ugh. These were not off to a good start. Took me awhile but finally finished them and I think they look pretty darn cute.

Circle Stamp- Birthday card

I came across my Simon Says Stamp circle stamps and to be honest they were a bit difficult to use but sense I have acquired one of those stamp cling boards (no names mentioned) I figured it would be easy peasy to use it.

Thought the Papetrey Ink candles would look cute in the center and at first I was going to make 3 different patterned candles but what the heck don't you normally have the same type of candles just in different colors on your cake?

After getting the main part taken care of , I just needed to work in the rest of the details. Best thing about this card is that I can give it to pretty much anyone. Its nice to have spare cards laying around cause you never know when you'll forget someone and need something at the last minute.

End of the Year Teacher Gift

Well here we are almost at the end of May and the kids will soon be out of school. I teamed up with my dd to see what would make a good gift for the kids teachers and aides. I gasped when she told me 3 teachers and 9 aides, yikes.

I figured the teachers definitely should get the heart of the gift giving and the aides a smaller thank you gift. I looked around on pintrest and saw the usual stuff. I really wanted this to be something more special than the usual gift card, candy, etc type gifts. I really wanted them to have something they would use and enjoy . Then I spied a canvas bag that someone had used vinyl to apply an apple and the teachers name. Spring boarding off that I saw a engraved tag with a quote I really liked. Then not really wanting to do an apple but more heart related that made me do some image searching and finally after combining a bunch of ideas and then putting my twist on it I came up with these canvas bags.

I really love them, they are not ivory but rather a soft white. They are made really well, a nice stiff but flexible canvas, love that they have an inner pocket, a heft zip tab to zip the bag closed and not just handles to hand carry but also an adjustable handle to put over your shoulder, how clever is all that and there is a 3" box gusset at the bottom. They were about $10 ea, so the price was definitely worth it.

If you are interested in purchasing the bags I bought them here, Book Tote Bag

I am considering having the child who will be giving to their teacher leave his handprint on the inside pocket and then I can use vinyl for their names so it gives it even more of a personal touch.

If I have time I also want to make some cute zipper bags out of some type of school themed fabric.

Now I need to run to JoAnns because I need more vinyl to finish the other two bags, plus still not sure what the aides will be getting just yet.

Trip down Memory Lane (Photo Heavy)

Looking back through my archives I was revisiting some of the cards from my past and thought they would be fun to share.

Well that's probably enough for now, I hope you enjoyed looking back at some of my cards from years past.

Character Included

I've had this layout on my desk for awhile and hadn't had time to finish it until now, actually I have a few. This one was all done except the second have of the title. It took me awhile to figure out exactly what I wanted to title this as other than I knew Character was part of it. Finally I got some time and decided it needed to be completed. I only had to cut out the second part of the title, add some journaling and then it was done.

Now I just need to finish my other two.

Birthday card for a guy

Generating a card for my mom for Mother's Day got me to thinking about Father's Day and well that led to me thinking about my hubby's birthday as well.

Guy cards always do seem to be a bit of a challenge don't they. I really wanted to do another stampscape card but those really take some time since I haven't mastered them. So I decided to just go ahead and make a regular card and if I don't find the time for a stampscape one, well at least I'm covered.

I have to stay this card was going another route entirely but I felt it was too bright and whimsical for a guy so I had to switch it up a little. I am always searching through my bits of scraps for some reason rather than grabbing a full sheet, not sure if it's me being lazy or just thrifty. I found this orange striped pp and decided to go in a somewhat nautical color theme.

The Happy was originally across the card below and well it just didn't seem right so I spun it on the side and liked the look so that's why its running vertical rather than horizontal. Still looking a little plain so of course decided it needed a few enamel dots for a finishing touch. And there you have it one guy birthday card.

Happy Mother's Day

Well after my long and fun vacation I realized how soon Mother's Day was and figured I better hop to it and make some sort of card for my mom.

I picked out this Delphinium stamp from Clearly Besotted. I figured a purplish blue flower would be a safe bet. I stamped and colored one flower then stamped, colored and fussy cut another one so I could pop it up a bit.

Looking for the right stamp is crazy when I needed something so small for my tag, thus I opted to hand write it in. Not as pretty but it sure does the trick.

Walt Disney World - Day 6

This was our last day at the parks before we leave bright and early the next day. During dinner at Epcot we made a whim decision to eat breakfast at the Magic Kingdom park. If I've learned one thing at WDW it's have dining reservations. I found an opening at Be Our Guest so we opted to go there, ride a few rides then head back to the hotel before we headed back to Hollywood Studios for the evening.

All in all its been a long hot and humid week filled with a lot of fun and a lot of steps. My overall steps total for this week 98, 905 for a total of 45.11 miles, 21 floors and 272 active minutes.

So I am ready for home

Walt Disney World - Day 5

Today we spent in Epcot, there was a break mid day as it's been a heat wave here in Florida which is a bit out of norm. Going back to the hotel and be able to wash off the hot stickiness and put on fresh clothes just makes the evening time more enjoyable.

It was the Flower and Garden event that drove us here so took quite a few pictures.

Walt Disney World - Day 4 ( sort of )

This morning we took uber to Universal Studios. I figured since we came all this way across country I needed to visit the Harry Potter parks. I say parks because you need 2 tickets to see the entire theming of Harry Potter.

We arrived fairly early and went straight to Hogsmeade and then took the train to Diagon Alley. Loved all the theming and decorated windows. We did dine in the Leaky Cauldron for some breakfast.

Since I really can't do the virtual rides I declined to ride either of the HP ones.

It was getting pretty hot so we went back early to the hotel for some r&r.

Then in the evening we enjoyed the Magic Kingdom Park.
