Final Card Day

One last card using the background stamp from Stampin Up. This is just a mix of supplies (branch die from Martha Stewart, snowflake die from Simon Says Stamp and feather die from Paper Smooches punched in glittered cardstock) tucked in here and there to give it a nice embelly cluster. The tree was a last minute addition which I think worked out well and the die of course from WPlus9.

Merry Christmas - sledding

When I first saw this silhouette of a child sledding I knew I had to have it. It just exudes Christmas to me for some reason. I used distress inks to give the feel of a nightime sky and of course those lovely snowflakes from Simon Says Stamp for accents, a few enamel dots/heart and a bit of vellum and washi tape as well.

Wrapping up my Christmas cards

So this week should be the last of my cards unless I can't resist the urge to keep making more or I find I need more. Right now I actually have all the sentiments stamped inside and am proceeding to address all the envelopes with stamps affixed so I can just drop them in the mail in a few weeks. Feels good to be ahead of the game this year for once.

First up for this week is another water color card using stamps from Besotted Stamps. I really wanted to make another after the snowman and it took me three attempts to get this right. First time I tried stamping in green which just looked odd, then I did it in brown but didn't get the color combo right so tossed that one too and then finally not wanting to feel defeated I tried it one last time. I decided to heat emboss the pine cones in gold though and add a few splatters of Tattered Angel mist.

This card is being sent to my in-laws since my dh gets first pick of all the cards to send to his parents. I always find it interesting to see which ones my dh picks for his parents because I think that says a lot about his tastes.

More Deer Christmas Cards

So using the same set of WPlus9 dies I was able to create cards using each one of the dies. I have to say I don't really have a favorite because they are all kind of fun to use.

I am also using the Papertrey Ink Noel die which I cut 3 layers from cardstock and topped it with one layer of pp from Chickiadiddy. The tree is also from Papertrey Ink and the banner die is from Stampin Up. I used the snow embossing stencil with some glittler or snow embossing paste.

The last of the deer die from WPlus9 plus their Merry die and the pp is from Teresa Collins.

Shaker Card

I am kind of loving the whole black color combo with my Christmas cards and thought I would do one more. I also love these deer dies from WPlus9 and of course a Shaker card was kind of imminent with all the lovely sequins I had on hand.

Merry Christmas- It's Snowing!

I love this snow stencil from Simon Says Stamp..use that with the Aleene's Glitter Snow embossing paste and you can add instant snow to your card. I dug out this never used die from Memory Box and decided it need to get a little festive so I cut once in white then cut the trees and houses from cardstock and pp. I then glued them on top, a little time consuming but nothing overly complicated.

I also used the Clearly Besotted Christmas die along with half a sentiment stamp from Papertrey Ink.

The first layer is adorned to the card and then I popped up the last layer using some foam strips.

Happy Holidays Gold Card

I so wanted to make a card using some gold paint and thought hey it should be easy enough to use with some embossing paste, right, wrong. Do you know when you mix said paint (and I tried several paints and several methods) with embossing paste it dilutes the shininess of the gold which really in my mind defeats the whole purpose of wanting a shiny gold card. I finally smoothed on the embossing paste then applied the paint on top, some stayed shiny and some didn't but it looked much better then any of my other attempts.

Oh look there is that snowflake die again, I told you I was in love with it. I was actually humming silver and gold while I was making this card and that was my inspiration.

Peace on Earth

I was really enamored with the Holly Jolly card colors from Monday and decided to use the same Sugar Wafer cardstock along with the lovely snowflake die and some pretty pink sequins. I also heat embossed the sentiment using Hot Pink embossing powders from Ranger. I am just going to say right here and now, don't even buy EP unless it's fine detail in texture. There is nothing worse then seeing your sentiment look like spongy in texture (which I know is hard to see in this photo), but it's what I had on hand.

This card made me feel a little nostalgic because when I was growing up I had a neighbor girl (she had the most exotic name I had ever heard; Chantelle) whose mother insisted on an all white flocked tree and she used to adorn it with these shiny color ornaments in the teal blue, green and pink colors..I used to think it was the most magical thing ever but at 6 isn't everything at Christmas time magical?

Holly Jolly Card

Well I was a happy camper on Saturday and was able to spend some time in the crafty room with minimal interruptions..that's an important factor when you are trying to create and finish projects.

I am not sure why I did it, but I decided to use greys, black and reds for a Christmas card. I admit that is not a usual color combo one thinks of when they think of Holiday cards, none the less I think it actually worked. I had to test stamp different color combos before I was happy with the grey color seen here.

I also signed up for the Christmas Card online class and they were using tags which I must admit I really don't really think of using too much so this was a bit of a challenge for me.

Holly Jolly stamp is from Papertrey Ink, The snowflake and floral leaf die are from Simon Says Stamp (SSS), the tag I had forever which is your basic office supply store tag, the banners I hand cut. The red twine is from Prima and the tiny silver bells can be found at Michaels or Beverley's. The background stamp is from Stampin Up and I used Sugar Wafer colored cardstock from SSS plus their Fog ink.

I did also glitter my snowflake because it just had to be done eventually. I really love my snowflake dies and you are going to see other projects using this die. In fact at one point I had to tell myself enough!

One more Summer layout

This is another layout I did for Marshall. It was so warm over our summer and I don't have a pool so I did the next best thing and filled a bucket full of water to play with, needless to say it occupied the boys for quite awhile.

Joy Card

For this card I used the grey ink to create a faded shadow feel while only just the one colored stamp for a pop of color. I have to confess that I am in love with these snowflake dies from Simon Says Stamps. So intricate, I am half tempted to color with some glitter they are just so pretty.

Back to Christmas Cards

Made a few more cards while at the Expo. I really love how clean and simple this card is. Just a hint of color from misting and a few sequins for some sparkle. Am also loving this color combo and wondering as my card making progresses if I will change it up at all but for now the bubble gum pink and teal blue is really kind of fun to work with.
