Enjoy the Fun

Here is a layout of my youngest grandbaby and my youngest son playing on the slide. I used the silhouette to cut the enjoy title, QK Studio font for "the" and some old chipboard alphas for Fun.

Have to say I {heart} that Cameo Silhouette for cutting out these super thin titles.

Circles were misted and adorned with some epoxy dots.

Disney World of Color

So here is another Disney layout that I have to say is one of those things that just looks better in person. What you can't see are the shinny silver metallic letters but instead you see a dark greyish silver.

I did some water coloring on paper and then used that for the Color letters.

Have to say I wasn't sure where this layout was going but I just kind of kept adding splashes of color here and there to get it where it is and am very pleased with how it came out. Just wish you could see a better representation of the page.

Happy Memorial Day

Hope everyone is enjoying their holiday time.

Today I decided to share another Disney layout. Using up more of those laser die cut titles. I have to say these things are a challenge to put together.

I think the Jungle Cruise is probably the most nostalgic ride for me at DL since it is one of the first real memories I have from my childhood that and my dad carrying me across his shoulders telling me to wake up that there was Tinker Bell (when she cascades from the top of the Matterhorn) right before the fireworks started. Unfortunately I went right back to sleep, I believe I was 5 or 6 at the time so I have no memories of the fireworks. Funny the things you remember from your childhood.

Fun with Trikes

For this page I am not sure why I choose a monochromatic color tone but I got the idea to do some background stamping on my page and it just went from there.

It's not every day you see a 22 y/o on a trike so you knew that photo had to be snapped and of course documented.

Small Wonders

Continuing on with my layouts today I am sharing a page of my grandbabies little hands. I just love to watch how they discover new things, trying to figure out how to hold or work and object so decided to capture it.

I also decided to go with a bit of mixed medium and used some embossing paste and a honeycomb stencil as well as some misting sprays. I must say my Cameo is getting a bit of a workout cutting my titles.

I do apologize for the bad photo, when I scan it doesn't like to focus with thick embellishments and gets a lot of shadows.

New Discoveries

I played Hooky on Friday from work and decided I needed some me time, unfortunately that meant helping my mother get to the airport and back when her flight returned due to mechanical errors, I guess it was a good thing I wasn't at work and could be readily available for her.

Anyhoo, I was in a layout mood after making all those cards for the Watercolor calls which was for 12 days, nice but I have a short attention span and was losing interest after day 6. Don't get me wrong the class was interesting, learned a few things and best of all broke out those watercolors and used them and got me feeling a bit creative which flowed on to my layouts.

So for today I am sharing a layout I made for the Scrapyland website of my middle grandbaby figuring out how the heck the squirt bottle works and then had fun squirting everyone including his little brother who actually did think it was quite fun! What can I say..cheap entertainment.

Watercolor Class - Day 5 and 6

Ok I must admit at this point the class is becoming a bit repetitious for me. I think to sum it up the idea is you can use anything to watercolor with, you can use shimmer water instead of water to add some gleam and you can either emboss or not emboss your image as well as paint or ink directly on your stamp or do it afterward. But it's interesting to see the instructors different techniques and mediums.

I think by far the one that made the most impression on me was where you stamped your image with distress ink then used a watercolor brush and painted over the image with water. While the image was still wet you go back over it adding paints to mix in with the original image and paint in where it's needed. It was the most beautiful card I had ever seen so I knew I wanted to try my hand at it. I left the face intact because I don't think it would have done the image justice to brush it wet.

I also went ahead and made a card where you inked the stamp, misted with water and then stamped on the card. I have to say this is nothing new to me and was as a take on the instructors use of actually painting with shimmer water instead of regular water, I misted my stamp with Radiant Pearls, but I didn't like the muddy look it gave so for this card, I just opted to mist the uninked stamp after I was done and stamped it on top of my image which did give it a bit of a sheen.

Enjoy you weekend everyone!

Watercolor Class - Day 3 and 4

I have two cards to show you today, both involve heat embossing the image. The difference is one I used the emboss lines to retain the paint and the other I used to provide clear lines so they wouldn't be muddied or blurred from adding water and paints to the surrounding area.

Water Color Class - Day 1 and 2

If you remember awhile back I took a stencil class and enjoyed it so much I decided to try a watercolor class. I have used watercolors in the past and I love the look so I thought this would be a great opportunity to bring those tools back out and use them plus perhaps learn new techniques which I did.

First up I have a card that you were to pool watercolors on watercolor paper and then press a stencil down to give it a bit of resist. Can I just say I failed horribly with this technique. It took three attempts and me just finally putting the stencil down and painting over it and building up excess paint which I allowed to sort of pool that finally worked for me.

This next card was to use a background stamp, ink and mist with water. I choose a math stamp that I bought in honor of my son who is kind of a math geek or rather physicist geek and figure it deserved some kind of math tie in for the sentiment.

This next card was interesting. You take a distress ink color then ink an acrylic block and mist with water before you press it down on watercolor paper. Layer other ink colors and finally splat with some water droplets. I then used the silhouette for a cut file and added a few embellies.

Will be back on Wednesday with more cards and techniques.

Disney Week 1 - Happy Birthday Card

Here is a card I decided to make since I was feeling the Mickey love. I kept it monochromatic which can be a bit of a challenge, but I think I pulled it off.

Disney Project Life - Wk 1: Pages 2 and 3

So here is basically the first double page spread. I have all the Halloween Photos printed out so decided that's where I needed to begin. I also have Christmas and need to hunt down pages I already completed years ago. Should be interesting to see how those fit into this album

First up is the album cover. Used the cameo trace and cut function to make Mickey and then cut the title from downloaded font. The Castle is one of those little package of die cuts you assemble. I have been collecting these for years and it was time to start using them up.

Disney Project Life - Week 1

I finally decided to take the plunge and scrap all my Disneyland photos into PL pages. I was trying to do individual albums for each visit hoping to make them into 8x8 when I realized it wasn't going to work. Frustrated I set it aside..fast forward 1 year later and I realized PL was the perfect vehicle for all those photos.

I also decided to intermix 12x12 layouts into the album because I just feel there are some photos worthy of the attention a full 12x12 page will give them.

This week I am paying tribute to Disney all week long. First up is one layout I did and later on I have PL pages plus a nod to Mickey with a card.

This is probably a bit busier than I normally like or would do but was having so much fun throwing stuff at it I couldn't stop. I apologize for the blurriness, but my scanner seems to be picky about what it focuses on when there are bulky elements.

Kraftin Kimmie - Summer Splash

This is a card I made for Scrapyland using a cute Kraftin Kimmie stamp. The paper is from Lawn Fawn and colored the this cutie with copic markers. Have a good weekend and if you are joining Scrapyland this weekend I will see you at their online weekend-crop which starts today at 12 noon PST.
