A sneak peek

Ok I admit it, I love to redecorate. Only trouble is my pocket book and my back can't keep up with how often I would like to do it. I have redone just about everyroom twice in our house with the exception of the Masterbath and the Kitchen, but you know in the back of my mind I already have plans to redo some element of them. So what was left..my son's room. Now this will be his third makeover but honestly he has grown up in this room so the room has gone through various stages of his childhood which is kind of appropriate. This room is from his teen years. For his childhood years, we had just moved into this house so we did a car theme where his black wall was painted half yellow, half black and a white and black check border split the wall. It was of course a racing theme, appropriate for any eleven year old boy.

Before we started on the overahaul we took some before photos. Mind you this room had a ton of painted music logos that he spent countless hours and many a bottle of my MM paints that he used and we were both kind of sad to see it go. I wanted to share with you a few photos of the before room and then stayed tuned for the after photos which unfortunately won't be complete until his bed arrives from PB Teen..and {sigh} it's on back order until end of August. But we did get the paint done this past weekend and the floor should be installed this coming weekend. [yep finally putting hardwood flooring through the rest of the house and his room gets the first installment].  So maybe I can share a few sneak peeks after the floor gets put in. Until then here is a little hint..... he's goin California. So until then gaze upon the before photos.

Altered Canvas

I love the look of rustic old items and since I don't actually get to alter items in this rustic fashion too often I seized the opportunity to make this sign for my workplace using the Graphic 45 Alice in Wonderland pp from Halloween last year. I saw this saying on a shirt at Wal-mart and knew right away this would make a perfect sign to display at work where my fellow co-workers would surely get a laugh. I modged podged the pp down in various layers, painted the paper with Tattered Angels Glimmer Glam, then wiped it off since it would have basically left the paper black but instead left a subtle black overtone. I then spritzed the canvas with some Perfect Pearl Inference Red for more sheen, attached some Toile and added layers of embellies. The "CRAZY" letters I painted, then stamped and then topped off with some Diamond Glaze. I think it came out pretty good, what do you think?

Sarah Kay Stamps

SKS have to be about the sweetest stamps you could imagine. Some of them remind me of Holly Hobbie and others just seem to capture the pure innocence of a child. This by far has to be my favorite SKS. How could anything be cuter than a little girl and her teddy bear? unless you add either a puppy or a kitten but then you would just be egging on for a full cutie meltdown.

And here is a Holly Hobbie look alike but with a moder flair.

Altered Starbucks Oatmeal Cup

It's amazing what you can alter these days and I wanted to share with you one of my favorite finds from Starbucks. I got the idea one day when I ordered a cupcake and they used this container instead of the flimsy square box they use, and being a person who likes to recycle I immediately thought of repurposing it since it was virtually spot clean. It's a great size for a short stack of cookies or for some spiced nuts or perhaps a group of candies. It's funny to see the looks on the employee's faces when I politiely ask if I can have 1-2 containers (not wanting to hoard a bunch) everytime I went in to various stores.

Good News, Bad News

Well I guess it's really just good news but I had another card picked up for publication which unfortunately I can't show (at least not yet). It will be published in the Jan/Feb issue. But I can show you a few projects that weren't picked up (the bad news).

A Celebrated 4th with a twist

Well hopefully everyone enjoyed their Fourth of July holiday, for us it also meant celebrating a birthday, well technically my husband's birthday is on the 5th but what the heck we just combined the two since we were all gathered together anyways. So thanks to my youngest son we decorated the backyard with a fourth theme and enjoyed a nice evening meal outside when the temps were much more enjoyable. I think everyone had a goodtime and at best we all enjoyed a good meal.

Another baby layout

Well only took a little over a year to get started on some of these baby pictures of Zack. Can't believe he is 15 months already. It's nice to see his personality coming out in full force. But looking back at these photos I can't believe he was ever a baby before. I think he went from 5 weeks to 1 year in a flash, must be that time warp button someone keeps pushing on me.
