Walt Disney World - Day 3

Headed to Animal Kingdom this am. Thankfully parks don't open till 9am, gives people like me from the West Coast time to wake up at a semi normal time.
It was another hot day and with all the water in this park it seemed humid so we stayed half day and then headed pack to the hotel for a few hours to cool off shower and relax.
For dinner we do dined in Disney Springs at Morimotos, the food was excellent.

Fast and Easy

Well I am getting ready for a trip to Walt Disney World. This will be my second time I have visited this park or should I say parks. The last time I went to Florida it was a good 10 to 15 years ago and a lot has changed since then. And last time was a bit of whirlwind visit so I am eager to return and actually enjoy the park at a more leisurely pace.

Any hoo I wanted to have something for the blog today amongst all the packing and planning and went for a fast and easy card. I like to use up my Project Life or Pocket Cards for cards. Seems silly but its a great way to use them up.

I already had the stamped wood grain panel in my stash, grabbed a piece of scrap pp I had saved and slapped on the PL card, After that I just needed a stamped die cut and a little bit of embellies. I like the simplicity of this card and think it will be a perfect birthday card for my niece.

Light The Candles

Mentioning my mother's birthday in an earlier post got me to thinking about it so I dug out this cute Art Impression's stamp. I actually purchased this with my mom in mind and since I was getting tired of water coloring and I am sure you are equally tired of looking at it, I decided it was time to use my copics. After all it's been a long while since I've used them for card making or at least it seems like it.

I added a little B41 to her skin to age it and also some BV00 to her hair to give it a ever so slight purple tinge. After coloring her I fussy cut her out and popped her up on some foam.

I created the background with the copic mister. Basically lying down painter's tape to give it that straight edge I worked one side then lifted the tape, moved it over to cover up the portion I just did and worked on the other side. I debated about giving the floor a shadow or even more of a textured feel but decided I liked it just the way it was.

Watercolor: Happy Birthday - Dahlia

So am back at to trying out these new Dahlia stamps and while this ended up being almost exactly like my first attempt I still like it. I really was trying for a peach color since I actually was inspired by some Dahlias I had purchased a while ago that are beautiful peach tone. Alas epic fail because I didn't mix in in pink so just have a more yellow and orange coloring.

I really struggled this night. Every time I picked up a stamp I seemed to drop it on my already stamped card thus leaving an unwanted stamped image. I finally got this one down and walked away. Sometimes it doesn't pay to keep trying.

Watercolor: Sending Birthday Wishes

I finally got the garden weeded, the grandkids are back in school and I finally found some time to get back into my crafty room once more. I thought I would get back to some more water coloring and try out this other new set I purchased for my birthday. This is called Amazing You.

I also thought I would try something completely different with my watercolors this time and although you can't quite see it I used a mix of Radiant Pearls. This is a very thick substance when compared to water colors so it was harder to dilute and get those shades of dark and light. I did end up mixing in a little watercolor just to help it out a bit. I didn't really see a big payoff in terms of shimmer but it does have a nice gleen to it. I did like being able to use all those lil pots I have accumulated so I am thinking some sort of hybrid with both watercolor and either the Twinkling H20s are Radiant Pearls might work.

Watercolor: Sending Lots of Love

This is my last panel that I had painted at the expo. I wasn't entirely happy with it so it sat on my desk for a spell but looking at it over the weekend I decided it wasn't too bad. I did take some Twinkling H2Os and add a bit of tangerine color to give it some shimmer on the flowers. Of course it needed a little more bling so also adorned the card with some sequins.

Star Wars Tees

Well we are definitely seeing Springtime around where I live, and that means (sigh) I have been weeding like crazy, prepping and planting my garden and not doing much else. Oh except I am going on a trip to Walt Disney World at the end of the month so I am super excited to finally visit WDW. The last time and the only time I have been there before was when my ds was in Pop Warner football which was about 12 years ago or so.

Alas because of all these activities my crafty time has pretty much been nil. I did however decide to finally get some tee shirts made for the boys. They love Star Wars and I figured I better hurry up and do something with these tees before they out grow them.

I wasn't too creative just did silhouette of a few characters and found a couple of sayings for the shirts. I already had the font so that was nice to use for the text.

For Darth Vader I had previously bought a shirt for my oldest grandson and it had the same saying so that pretty much stuck in my mind. I figured the middle grandkid would enjoy the nod to cookies.

And for my other tee I decided to use Yoda. Finding some cute but not predictable quote like "Judge me by my size do you" wasn't easy. I didn't want the youngest little guy to have a typical quote so I did find something not quite as cute but I think it works.

I'm pretty sure they'll love them.
