Sharing the Love

Ok I know we haven't even finished December yet, but I couldn't help myself. I have been sick again since Christmas (sigh) and I had bought some February supplies and goodies before Christmas set in and while they arrived and got stashed with all the hustle and bustle of holiday activities, I found myself needing something to pick me up and take me away from all the boxes of tissues and bottles of pills.

Today is the first day for a bit that I haven't felt like being camped in front of the TV so I opted to give myself a little feel good time by playing with these new goodies and of course Love cards were on the agenda.

The Love die and sentiment stamp are from Papertrey Ink

The little monster and sentiment were from Simon Says stamps along with the pp. The banner die was from Papertrey Ink and the small heart punch from Stampin Up. The small expoy heart was from MME.

The background die, sentiment and Love dies along with coordinating stamp are from Papertrey Ink. The arrow is from Recollections and the epoxy dots are from MME.

Christmas is Coming (or rather been here and gone)

My goal for today is to get caught up and hopefully complete my December Daily. I have been working on projects about Zack the past week that I kind of felt bad I was neglecting Marshall so devoted myself to at least make him one layout.

We took the kids to the mall for Christmas PJ photos, but alas Marshall was the only one who cooperated. Have to say he looked pretty cute in those pjs and that Santa hat.

More December Daily

So I don't know about you, but I am still playing DD catch up. I am almost there. I am finding it difficult to limit some of my photographs on a few of these double pages. If you are doing DD how are you managing? Am I the only one still trying to get this done?

Sweet Love - An altered canvas

If you remember from my post last Monday I had mentioned a second photo of my grandson that I really loved but was saving it to make and altered canvas for my dd..well here it is. I just love how affectionate he is towards her.

And ladies I am using some very very old Jenni Bowlin paper here. I actually bought a kit when she first opened her store/line to make some altered project for which I have totally forgotten what it was, but decided to put it better use here. Also using up some older Senic Route chipboard letters and since I was missing the "O" you know I had to use a heart.

The heart brad was from Making Memories and the rest are tid bits I either had lying around or are a bit newer. The letters Sweet and the red arrow were cut from the silhoutte. Thinking maybe I can sneak this in as a Christmas gift.

U Can't See Me

This was another picture taken during my trip with the grandkids to a tree farm. Zack is a bit shy but getting better. As people came onto the farm and near us he would drop and hide his face. I just thought he looked so cute scrunched up into a tiny ball thinking that if he did this people wouldn't see him. Daycare has helped him a lot and he is getting better meeting new people or if people come up close to him but he still likes to go into this defense mechanism every once in awhile.

December Daily Catch Up

Well thought I would finally get these up to share. I have more pages but didn't want to overload you. So far I have been able to keep up fairly well but alas my PL for my kitty has fallen behind a bit so I need to make an effort and work on those page for a bit.

Liebster Award Nominee

Happy Thursday Everyone.
Well I had an interesting post the other day and was nominated for a Liebster Award from a fellow blogger, named Evie! You can find her at her blog Artfulscrapbooking

I am honored to say the least.

Evie for those who don't know her, is an artist who obviously loves scrapbooking and recently became part of the Sketch-N-Scrap Layout Design Team
As part of being a recipient for the Liebester award you must answer a list of questions and provide 5 facts that you didn’t know about me
So first up....5 things about me that you probably didn’t know:

3)  I am a giant kid at heart and still watch cartoons on Saturday morning
4)  I am known as a trouble maker among my family and friends

Here are the answers to the questions that I must answer

1)   What is your favorite dessert? Anything with chocolate, especially Chocolate Cake
2)   Who is your favorite artist? Monet
3)   What was your favorite subject in elementary school? Recess..um is that a subject? Seriously elementary school was like a ton of years ago and I guess it would have to be Art class.
4)   Do you like to dance? Yes, but it’s best if no one is looking
5)   What is your favorite season? Ack..guess that would have to be Spring.
6)   Do you eat real butter? Absolutely..why wouldn’t you.
7)   What do you collect? Memories, I just don’t have physical room left for any dust collector items
8)   What do you put in your coffee? Nothing..I like it strong and black.
9)   Who is your favorite Disney character and why? Guess this would be TinkerBell because she is full of spunk
10) Are you a little bit country or are you a little bit rock-n-roll? Definitely Rock N Roll

And now it’s my turn
Here are my nominees for The Liebster Award.

Sweet Love

I took a bunch of photos the other day when we went to a tree farm with my dd and the grandbabies. I couldn't resist sneeking in a layout and taking a quick break from my December Daily after I saw this picture.

This was one of my favorite photos of the day and I have a similar one that I am going to use to make a canvas of and give to my dd. Any hoo when my dd stopped to tie the shoe of my littlest grandbaby, this guy leaned up again along her back and gave me this wonderful smile.

Using Sequins on Christmas Cards

I have no idea why but I am quite enamored with using sequins lately. I guess it's because I am a sucker for eye candy and these bright and shiny little nuggets draw me right in. I have been gluing them down but they seem to pop off so now I have been using glue dots if anyone has any secrets on how to get these little buggers to stay I am totally open for suggestions.

And here is my DD - Day 2. I have a Christmas Catus and it bloomed for me..honestly sometimes I wonder how it happens since I always feel like I've killed it.

December Daily and Christmas Cards

I hope everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving. I unfortunately came down with a whopper of a cold and we had to cancel our trip to see my in-laws which left my poor hubby and youngest son to dash to the store for a last minute meal. They did a splendid job and while I slept the day away in a drug induced coma they prepared a very lavish and tasty meal and I am truly blessed and thankful that they took such good care of me and cooked a lovely meal.

So I have been busy making Christmas Cards and am on my first ever December Daily album for which I am completely in the dark about. I have no idea exactly what the rules are or what the structure is for making one of these other than I know it's to document daily the events for the month of December.

First up is a very simple card

Here is my cover page. I plan to use one album for several years and thought I would segregate the years with a cover page.

Here is Day 1

Star Wars Exhibit Photos

We are lucky enough to have the Star Wars Exhibit come into our local Tech Museum so I asked my eldest grandson if he would like to go and of course he said Yes!. He is interested in movie making so I thought he would enjoy seeing the props that were used in making the Star Wars films.

I have to say I was utterly impressed at the details that were on each item. Especially these ships even though we briefly see them on screen the details in real life are unbelievable.

Some facts that we learned, all evil ships were made in triangles.

The snow scene in the second film, aka V The Empire Strikes back was filmed in Norway and a huge storm came in the night before so all the crew were inside the hotel and they shot the scene in the doorway leading to the hotel. So poor Mark Hamilton had to go out into the cold while everyone was toasty warm in the hotel.

Some of the sounds for the ships and racers came from capturing the sounds of the LA freeway at 2 am and then forced that through a metal pipe and they also recorded a jet engine thursting the motors in reverse.

Have a Happy T-Day Everyone!

Hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday. Thought I would share with you some well known artist and their renditions of what Thanksgiving means to them.

This is a painting by Jennie Augusta Brownscombe, one I really love titled First Thanksgiving

This one is by Jean Louis Gerome Ferris, a more well known artist perhaps.

And who could forget this wonderful artist, Normal Rockwell famous for capturing the iconic American holiday dinner which completely reminds me of my childhood and celebrating Thanksgiving at my grandmothers.

And lastly who can forget Charles M. Schulz's peanuts gang who always bring a little smile to your day.

Enjoy this special time with your family and friends and we'll catch you a few pounds heavier on Friday.
