When My Favorite Things released these cute piggy's from Birdie Brown I snagged them up quick. I just knew they would be a favorite with my grandkids and father in law.
I decided to make this card for my dh's niece's daughter and will add her to my monthly card distribution. I only get to see her when we visit my FIL up in Oregon but she is a character that's for sure. She is 4 years old and am pretty sure she will be excited to get some real mail with her name on it. And this visit I also grabbed her measurements so I could sew a few projects for her. My big goal for her is a princess dress and she asked me for a Minnie Mouse dress so hopefully I can get those done and sent off to her before summer's end.
Hi there, this is my little spot in the world where I can share with you some of the passions of my life. I hope you find this a place of inspiration that you can use or share. If you find something you like please feel free to "scraplift me" as they say, you can credit me or not either way I don't mind, just enjoy the journey.

Make A Wish
I had a piece of cardstock I die cut a scallop circle from and not wanting to waste it I thought it would make a fun shaker card and it just kind of evolved from there.

Aloha
I was designing a few cards for Scrapbook.com challenges and one of the stamps I pulled out was from Kraftin Kimmie. The theme was summer and I felt like she was a great example of summertime.
The background was created from a Papertrey Ink die and then a few more dies for the circles. I then stamped and colored the girl with copics, fussy cut her out and adhered her with some foam tape to give her a bit of a pop. I then decided she needed a few flowers to help round out the Hawaiian theme I was going for and die cut the Aloha from my Star mini dies from Quickutz/Lifestyle and whatever their latest name is.
Inside my card which I neglected to take a photo of I stamped a sentiment from Rubbernecker stamps that says My idea of perfect is...a Cabana Boy with a Margarita and a trashy novel"

Whoops
I went to fetch my Father's Day card for my FIL and realized I sent it to my grandkids by mistake. I had made them both Shark cards using the Avery Elle Hello Chum stamp/die set. So in a blazing fashion I had to create another card.
What to make, what to make. I decided I would use my stamps from Stampin Up. I think the sentiment fits and I paired it with a few die cut clouds instead of the usual enamel dots.
I also used my MFT scallop stitched die for the outside, and smart little me just flipped my inside pp piece and stamped on top of that and put it back into the die cut. No extra paper wasted and needing to be repurposed. I wasn't sure how the copics would take to it but it worked failrly well.

Zipper Card
I finally got around to make another card for my monthly send to the grandkids. This time I had been eyeing a set of dies I purchased from Papertrey Ink years and years ago, I figured it was time to use them. It's a set of dies to make zipper cards.
I wanted to pep up the card a bit so I die cut the beginning title using my Silhouette (font is called eight track), and added a MFT cool cat kitty that I colored to mimic our little Calico kitty named Momo.
The zipper die makes a perforated tear which I then die cut a second color to overlap on top of the original strip and stamped an arrow and little message that says pull here. Given that I don't even know if the boys will get the concept I took it a further step and started the first tear to help it make it easy.
Inside the perforated zipper strip I stamped the sentiment "is having special kids like you" I did have to alter this because the stamp was {a special kid} so I crossed out the a and added an s to kids. The stamp set is from Papertrey Ink as well and obviously coordinates with their moving die collection.
Hopefully this card is a hit and if nothing else is a bit different from their usual ones.

Wishing you Autumn Blessings
Ok I know that I will get some flack for this being an Autumn card when clearly that is months away and I am definitely not trying to rush it, but often when I get to creating I end up with bits and pieces of stuff that I hang on to, including sometimes a card that is already backed with pattern paper.
The later was the case with this card and honestly I tried to find a use for it but nothing but Halloween would stick in my mind, so why fight it. I used My Favorite Things Autumn Harvest stamps and dies which were colored with my copics. Along with the negative piece of the scallop stitched die for the background and also added some grass using MFT dies along with a tree.
The background I created by daubing or sponging on some distress inks. But I have to tell you that I have tried this fifty ways to Sunday and honestly I never liked the results. Finally I used a watercolor card panel, sponged on my ink..and the secret I misted my sponge with water and then dabbed that on top of my sponged background. The result is that there is no evidence of the circle sponge marks and a more smooth background.

It's Summer
Ok technically not the official day but heck we had 100 degree temps this past weekend so for me, its definitely summer. And in honor of summer I made a fun little card.
This is a Kraftin Kimmie stamp that I colored with copics. I added in a few shimmers in the water and a couple of sequins. The stamped panel was then die cut with Simon Says Stamp stitched die.
I don't know about you but pool time sounds like a great way to deal with the summer heat!

Odds and Ends
Nothing major for today. I am sharing some tee shirts that were on my to do list for the boys. I made them each two shirts, one colored and a bit fun the other was Haunted Mansion themed since they both remember their Disneyland trip. In fact Zack's big obsession right now is the Hat Box Ghost so that was my goal for him.
The other is some boxer briefs. Let me just say I detest sewing with knits ever since I learned to sew. That's the one thing I avoid. But the last time I dealt with knit fabrics was a good 30 years ago. I am a big girl now, times have changed and maybe just maybe I could deal with these knits once and for all..umm apparently not!
I really do not like the way the knit edges roll despite pinning it, having to stretch it when I sew, and just having to work with it period. I just hated making these and unless they are a big hit I won't plan on making any more. I really thought they were cute though and that saddens me a little. I am willing to give knits one last chance. It will be a simpler project and if after that I still don't like sewing it then it will be crossed off the list one more time. I really wanted to like being able to make knit items but if we just won't get along then I don't see us working together anymore.

Couple of Cards
Happy Wednesday! Hope everyone enjoyed their long weekend. I spent most of it making another quilt. I managed to get the top done now the icky part of backing it and sigh the actual quilt part.
I did manage to squeeze out a couple of cards yesterday since I haven't started my quilting just yet.
First up was a simple birthday card using some MFT stamps. This cutie was colored with copics and added enamel dots and washi tape to round out the card.

Then my bff's brother in law passed away so I needed to make a sympathy card. I chose this stamp from Stampin Ups Thoughts and Prayers. It's a pretty basic card but I did heat emboss it with some gold and die cut the panel with the stitched frame before popping it up with some foam tape. Seems a bit stark but I don't know if you would really want it to be too festive so leaving it as is.
